Union County Facility Release Paths
Union County Correctional Facility is the physical county-jail custodian for Wallowa prisoners covered by the regional agreement. When a person leaves this jail, the event can be a release into the community, a transfer to Oregon DOC after a prison sentence, movement to another county jail, or transfer to another authority on a warrant or detainer. A hospital guard detail or federal transfer also ends one location without proving freedom in the community.
The jail record must connect the person, booking number, admission, exit time, release authority, and destination. A booking number separates repeat arrests. The destination or receiving-agency field is as important as the release date because it answers what happened next. A court order may explain the legal basis, but the Union jail register documents when physical custody ended.

“Released” records the end of one continuous stay at one facility. It does not mean every charge ended, the Wallowa case was dismissed, or no other agency kept custody.
Confirm Union County Facility Releases
Begin with the official Union County source and identify one booking episode. Full name, aliases, arrest date, Wallowa case number, arresting agency, and Union inmate number help prevent a false match. The public roster is useful at the first step, but confirmation continues after a name disappears.
- Open the Union County Sheriff roster landing page and follow its acknowledgement to the date-stamped PDF.
- Search the name and inspect the agency field for Wallowa County or Enterprise Police. Record the inmate number and arrest date when shown.
- If the person is absent, call jail information at 541-963-1020 and ask whether that booking ended through community release or transfer.
- Request the jail-register or booking-and-release entry. Ask for the effective date and time, authority, reason, holds, and destination.
- Read the Wallowa Circuit Court case for the legal order, then follow any receiving agency named by the jail.

Union County Roster Release Limits
The Union County PDF is a current snapshot that changes in place. Its print date indicates when that copy was generated, but the Sheriff gives no fixed minute-by-minute refresh schedule. The observed fields are name, inmate number, arrest date and time, arresting agency, charges, and bonds. It has no release time, release reason, destination, projected date, photograph, released filter, 24-hour selector, 72-hour selector, or archive.
Wallowa-related rows are embedded within a regional list. The agency column is the key local clue because it may name Wallowa County or Enterprise Police. That clue helps locate a current detainee even though the facility sits in La Grande. It does not turn the roster into a Wallowa release feed.
When the next PDF omits a person, describe only a roster change until Union County supplies the movement record. Underlying booking files, photographs, and release entries may remain with the Sheriff after online visibility ends. Their retention depends on the applicable Oregon record series and any legal hold, not on how long a row remains online.

Union County Facility Release Records
The Union County Sheriff Public Records page expressly covers jail records and photographs associated with a case. Ask for the booking-and-release record, jail register entry, or custody movement history for one person and one episode. Include the name and known identifiers, Wallowa arrest or case number, approximate booking date, and arresting agency. Request admission and exit time, coded reason or authority, destination, hold disposition, and corrected fields.
At research time, jail records cost $10 through ten pages and $15 for eleven or more. Case reports were $10 for the first five pages plus $0.25 for each added page. Printed photographs were $5 each, and a photo CD was $25. Research and production time was $35 per hour, with the first fifteen minutes free and a minimum half-hour once billable. Confirm the current schedule and ask for an estimate because fees can change.

The office accepts the official form or a specific written request by listed delivery methods. Counter pickup, mail, and fax are described. Ordinary email delivery of records is unavailable unless the requester provides encrypted email. A quote and advance payment may be required. Ask for existing electronic records where practical and for exempt material to be redacted rather than withholding all segregable fields.
Why Wallowa Uses Union County
Wallowa County’s jail route is regional by design. Official Union County minutes document an agreement beginning July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2028. It reserves at least six spaces and permits up to eight for Wallowa prisoners. This arrangement makes Union County Correctional Facility the central current-custody and jail-release source for a Wallowa arrest during the term.
Wallowa approval minutes also thank the Sheriff for earlier transports “over the mountain” to Umatilla County. That history records a shift in regional custody. It also explains why generic directories that place an operating Wallowa jail at the Enterprise Justice Center are misleading. The Justice Center remains important for arrest, incident, transport, dispatch, and evidence records, but it is not the Union County jail.
One Wallowa event may therefore create records in two counties. Wallowa may document the arrest and transport. Union County documents the jail admission and exit. Wallowa Circuit Court documents the local order and disposition. Those sources are complementary.
Union County Bail and Release
Posting bail can start a release process, but payment is not proof that the person has left the facility. Union Sheriff permits cash or card bail and identifies GovPayNow and telephone payment. Its current roster supplies the inmate file number needed to match payment to the correct person. Staff must still complete the release process and address other holds.

This source helps distinguish a payment step from the later jail release entry. Bail does not mean dismissal or final case disposition. The court handles the return of funds after the case, less authorized fees or fines, while the jail record supplies the actual exit time and destination.
ICE Transfers From Union County
A county jail can close its own custody by transferring a person to ICE. That event is not a community release. Use the immigration route only when the Union County movement record identifies an ICE hold or transfer. No official source located in the research establishes a Wallowa County ICE contract, so a roster disappearance alone does not justify assuming immigration custody.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator can help test current qualifying custody and can include some people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. That narrow federal window is separate from the Union jail record. The ICE result does not prove the outcome of the Wallowa criminal case.
When the jail lists another federal authority, follow that agency instead. BOP covers sentenced federal prisoners and many former BOP prisoners. USMS can hold or transport a federal detainee but offers no comparable former-detainee locator. The destination field determines the right path.

After Union County Community Release
A person released into the community may return toward Enterprise or another part of northeast Oregon. No official source identifies a dedicated jail-release vehicle, exit door, family waiting area, gate payment, or fixed release hour for Union County Correctional Facility. Those details should be confirmed directly with the jail rather than borrowed from another Oregon county.

This regional source is relevant because detention occurs in La Grande while a Wallowa connection may lie farther east. Check current routes, eligibility, scheduling, and service area with the provider before relying on a trip.
Post-release supervision can return the official trail to Enterprise. Union/Wallowa Community Corrections handles local supervision for covered cases even though incarceration occurred in La Grande. Supervision is not physical jail custody. Confirm it with the proper office and the court or Board record.
